19th Avenue Bridge to North Valley Parkway Nearing Completion

To contact us Click HERE
19th Avenue Bridge in North Phoenix, AZIn a major city like Phoenix, it's common to have heavy traffic on arterial streets as well as freeways. 19th Avenue is one of Phoenix's busiest arterial streets. The road begins near South Mountain Park and runs north for an impressive 26 miles before terminating at Jomax Road in North Phoenix.

Soon, a new bridge will open that will allow drivers to continue into the North Valley Parkway neighborhood and on to Carefree Highway. This new bridge will provide a much-needed alternative to the congested Interstate 17 and Norterra Parkway routes.

The new North Valley Parkway bridge is currently under construction at 19th Ave just past Jomax Road in North Phoenix. Local engineering firm JG Engineering took part in the bridge's design, which comprises a triple-span pre-stressed concrete I-girder type with 135-foot, 145-foot, and 115-foot spans over the Central Arizona Project (CAP) canal.

The cost of the bridge is estimated to be $12 million dollars according to the Arizona Republic. Funding for the bridge came from the Arizona Highway Users Revenues and the Phoenix's capital improvement program.

A unique feature of the bridge are sunken concrete "U-boxes" which will allow CAP maintenance vehicles and pedestrians to pass beneath the bridge. By placing these features below grade, the bridge can maintain a lower profile.

A grand opening date for the bridge has not yet been announced.

Arizona's Largest Christmas Tree Arrives at Anthem Outlets

To contact us Click HERE
With Christmas just six weeks away, the Outlets at Anthem shopping center is getting into the holiday spirit. The outdoor shopping mall boasts that it has the largest Christmas tree in the state of Arizona on display!

This year's tree is a white fir that stands 114 feet tall, according to the Arizona Republic. In comparison, the Norway Spruce tree on display in New York City's Rockefeller Center measures just 74 feet tall. That makes the Anthem tree the tallest fresh-cut Christmas tree in the country, according to officials.

To celebrate, the Outlets at Anthem will be hosting three days of family-friendly activities during the weekend of November 18th-20th, 2011. Here is the calendar of events:

Friday, November 18, 2011: 5pm to 8pm
Radio Disney Rockin' Road Show
Movie Classic: Santa Claus is Comin' to Town

Saturday, November 19, 2011
Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony 6pm to 8pm
Grand Prize Giveaways 7pm to 8pm
FREE Michelle Branch and Shane Harper Concert!

Sunday, November 20, 2011
Three live concerts presented by 95.1FM: 12pm to 4pm

This is the 10th year in a row that the Outlets at Anthem has brought in a gigantic Christmas tree. This year's tree came in by flatbed truck from Northern California. It had to be hoisted into place with a large crane and is secured by guy wires for stability.

If you are one of the many shoppers who make visiting the tree in Anthem part of your regular Christmas activities, you may remember when the tree was damaged in 2009. That year, high winds brought on by a winter storm broke the top off the tree before Christmas. Fortunately, it was able to be repaired for the remainder of the holiday season. We are hopeful that such events will not happen again!

If you have time, I strongly recommend making the drive up to Anthem to see the tree in person!

Directions:
Take Interstate 17 north to Exit 229 Anthem Way
The shopping center is just West of the freeway

Address:
4250 W Anthem Way

Arizona Centennial Union Pacific Steam Locomotive Tour

To contact us Click HERE
You may already be aware that Arizona will be celebrating 100 years of statehood in February 2012. What you may not know is that celebrations for this important occasion have already begun!

Earlier this month, a very special steam-powered locomotive rolled through the Grand Canyon State as part of our centennial celebration. The Union Pacific #844 steam locomotive was available for public viewing at the Union Pacific rail yard in downtown Phoenix on Sunday November 13th and Monday November 14th, 2011.

North Phoenix Blog was on hand to witness this impressive display of mechanical engineering. Railroads played a critical role in the expansion of Arizona Territory, and this historic locomotive serves as a working reminder of how people used to get around in the days before air travel and interstate highways.

The Union Pacific Steam Locomotive made stops in Willcox, Benson, Vail, Tucson, Coolidge, Gilbert, and Tempe before arriving in Phoenix. After Phoenix, the train continued on through Casa Grande, Gila Bend, Wellton, and Yuma before heading into California.

The massive locomotive is an impressive sight to behold for train enthusiasts and ordinary folks alike. Among its most prominent features are the eight massive drive wheels which measure 80 inches in diameter.

The locomotive is notable for being the last steam locomotive delivered to Union Pacific in 1944. Though it has been designated as Union Pacific's ambassador of goodwill since 1960, the locomotive has never been retired from service. That makes it the only steam locomotive in North America with such a designation.

Union Pacific also had a more modern diesel-electric locomotive on display, UP#1996. This engine is one of five that Union Pacific owns which has a special "heritage" paint scheme. This particular locomotive is painted with the colors of Southern Pacific, which Union Pacific acquired in 1996.

We will keep you posted on many other events and happenings regarding Arizona's Centennial Celebration!

World's Largest Mobile Crane at Intel's Chandler Facility

To contact us Click HERE
Although this is the North Phoenix Blog, I acknowledge that important things happen in other parts of Phoenix and Arizona all the time. Sometimes, very big things happen.

If you've been in the Chandler area recently, you may have seen the gigantic crane at the Intel plant. You may have even thought to yourself "Wow, that's a big crane." It is more than just big, it is one of the largest mobile cranes in the world.

The crane has been called in to do some heavy lifting at Intel, where workers are busy constructing a new manufacturing facility called Fab42. When finished in 2013, the 1 million square foot facility will boast 180,000 square feet of clean room manufacturing space and create 1,000 new jobs.

To construct such a massive facility, Intel decided to call upon their old friend, the
Sarens SGC-120. Intel used the same crane in 2006 to construct Fab32, their current manufacturing line. Now, the crane has returned to help with their newest facility. Rather than have crews assemble trusses several stories off the ground, the decision was made to assemble the pieces on the ground and then use the crane to lift the trusses into place.

You can be sure that when lifting the trusses, the SGC-120 won't break a sweat. That's because it has a maximum lift capacity of 3200 tons and a maximum boom reach of 755 feet. The crane was shipped here from Belgium and was transported to the Chandler site in over 100 forty-foot shipping containers. In fact, the crane is so large that Intel representatives have been quoted as telling the press that it needed to be assembled using other cranes.

To learn more about the crane, please visit the Sarens website. You can also find more photos of the crane at these sites:

Phoenix FBI Headquarters Close to Completion

Regular readers of this blog may know that I have been keeping an eye on a very large office building under construction in North Phoenix for the past 2 years. Now, the new Phoenix FBI Headquarters is close to completion!

The massive building is close to completion with the windows, signage, flags, and security fence installed. I drive by this location frequently, and decided to take a photo for this post. I pulled over and hopped out of the car to snap a quick photo.

While I had been stopped by the side of the road for less than two minutes, I was quite surprised to see a Phoenix Police officer had pulled up behind me. He was standing next to his vehicle with a blank expression on his face. "What's going on here" he said flatly.

I said a friendly hello and gave him my name. I explained that I am a writer for North Phoenix Blog, a website with news and information about the Deer Valley area of Phoenix. He asked to see my ID and I complied. He also asked for the name of my blog and I watched him write it down.

After a long pause, the officer said that there have been several incidents of vandalism to the building during its construction. He said they have to investigate everything "just in case." With that, he headed back to his car and gave me a wave.

This wasn't the first time I have been questioned about taking photos, and it probably won't be the last. So please enjoy these photos of the new FBI office that I have posted here, because I would not recommend checking it out for yourself!

Iconic Arizona Exhibit at the Phoenix Art Museum

To contact us Click HERE
Have you heard about Iconic Arizona? It's a new exhibit of creative photography at the Phoenix Art Museum, and it's going on now!

The exhibit runs from November 12, 2011 through March 4, 2012. As you might imagine, the exhibit features many of Arizona's most well-known attractions such as the Grand Canyon and the Painted Desert.

However, the exhibit has more to offer than just the natural wonders of Northern Arizona. There are photos of the San Xavier del Bac Mission, Jerome, and man-made attractions such as the Hoover Dam and Frank Lloyd Wright's Pauson House.

Images from 40 different photographers (including Ansel Adams) are on display in the Doris and John Norton Gallery for the Center for Creative Photography.

While you're there, you should also make time to see "The Bridge at Hoover Dam: Photographs by Jamey Stillings." This exhibit features dozens of awe-inspiring photos taken during the construction of the Pat Tillman Mike O'Callighan Memorial Bridge, also known as the Hoover Dam Bypass. This exhibit closes December 4th, 2011, so don't delay!

These incredible images are just a few of the many artistic pieces on display at the Phoenix Art Museum. The museum offers free admission one night per week and is also free of charge on the First Friday of every month. Regular rates aren't bad either, especially if you become a member. Check the Phoenix Art Museum website for exact details.

Copper Chopper Custom Motorcycle by Paul Yaffe

Copper ChopperThe State of Arizona's 100-year anniversary is just around the corner! If you have been out and about lately, you may have noticed that the Arizona Centennial Foundation has selected a rather unusual mascot for the state's 100th birthday.

Rather than choose a mascot, person, or event that defines Arizona's history, the Foundation has selected a custom built "chopper" bike, created by Arizona resident and bike builder Paul Yaffe.

Yaffe's "Copper Chopper" features a one-off frame design built around a highly customized Harley Davidson engine. The bike's eye catching appearance is heavy on Arizona symbols and icons.

For example, the sides of the gas tank have an engraved and polished plaque of the state flag, while the top of the gas tank has an airbrushed design with a banner that proclaims "Grand Canyon State." The leather seat has a heat-stamped pattern displaying the bike's official name "Copper Chopper." A piece to the side of the engine displays a map of Arizona's major cities.

While the symbolism here is obvious, there are other details of the bike that prove how seriously Mr. Yaffe takes his work. The engine's displacement is 100 cubic inches, one for each year of statehood. It also produces 100 ft-lbs of torque and 125 horsepower, which is quite a lot for a motorcycle!

The bike has been is currently on tour, making appearances at Centennial themed events throughout the state. At each event, officials are selling raffle tickets to win the custom chopper bike for just $5 per entry. The approximate retail value of the Copper Chopper is $100,000 according to the contest rules. Tickets are being sold at each stop and at over 600 Circle K convenience stores.

For build photos and finished photos of the Copper Chopper, please visit the Paul Yaffe website.

Phoenix Christmas Light Photos 2011

As a native Arizonan, I feel like I've never had the chance to get the full Christmas experience. While songs on the radio talk about sleigh rides, chestnuts roasting on an open fire and a White Christmas, I have never experienced any of those things.
Due to the climate here in the Sonoran Desert, the Phoenix area does not get snow. As a kid, one of our family traditions was to pile in the car and drive around to look at Christmas lights.
You see, when there is no snow, some folks try to make up for it by putting up a few extra strings of lights. And then there are the people who go completely and totally overboard with lights, illuminating the entire neighborhood like Times Square. Those houses are my favorite.
To help you find these over-the-top decorated houses, the Arizona Republic publishes a map on their website of the most decorated houses in town. This year's list includes 110 homes ranging from 8,000 lights up to 250,000 lights.
Here are some photos of a few of the houses near me:
The owner of this North Phoenix house has made decoration a tradition for over 30 years. He has been featured on the local news and in the paper numerous times, and won awards for his elaborate setups each year. He used to open his home to the general public but unfortunately that ended in 2010. The sign out front says that this will be his last year of doing decorations.
This North Phoenix residence features over 50,000 Christmas Lights as well as inflatables and a variety of characters.

Visitors to this house will be treated to over 80 Christmas trees decorated and lit that are also synchronized to Christmas music. Simply roll down the window and listen to the music until 10pm!
This house in Moon Valley features a giant inflatable snowman and train in the brightly lit front yard.
Just a few blocks away, I spotted this trio of houses that looked like the Las Vegas Strip! The house in the center displayed an award they had won for decorating.
A closer view shows just how much is going on here.
The house at the end of the street was pretty well lit up, too!
That's all the photos I have for now. Hopefully I will make it to some of the grander displays before the new year. Hope you enjoyed the photos! Thanks for looking and have a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year!

Homes Sales Rise 4.7%

New-Home Sales Rise 4.7%

Source: Wall Street Journal

Sales of new homes rose in February for the first time in seven months, the Commerce Department reported Wednesday, another sign that the housing market is thawing.

The increase was fueled by higher activity in the South and West, where deals on foreclosures and other "distressed" properties, particularly in California, are helping to drive interest.

Sales of new and existing homes are picking up month over month, and prices may soon follow. But the crosscurrent is whether unemployment will continue to rise, says USC real-estate economist Delores Conway. Stacey Delo reports.

The data "have allayed some fears that the housing market would continue to freefall," said Omair Sharif, an economist with RBS Greenwich Capital, "but it's way too early to say if we've hit bottom."

Wednesday marked the third consecutive day of positive news in the housing market, a contrast to the drumbeat of bad news in recent months. On Tuesday, a government gauge of home prices posted its first gain in almost a year, while Monday brought news that sales of previously owned homes, the biggest share of the market, also increased last month.

Also Wednesday, the California Association of Realtors said existing-home sales in the state were up 83% in February from the previous year, as the median home price was down some 40%, helping to shrink inventories to about a six months' supply from 15 months last year.
Bette Zerba, a real-estate agent in Phoenix, said a high level of foreclosures is prompting similar activity in her area.

"I thought the market looked spectacular right now and wanted to take advantage of it," said one of Ms. Zerba's clients, Rosanna Fischer, 40 years old, a first-time home buyer. She offered $175,000 on a 2,000-square foot bank-owned home with a pool in Glendale, Ariz., last week.

Shares of retail companies rose on Wednesday after government data showed durable goods orders and home sales rose more than expected. Home Depot was a leading gainer.

Sales of new homes nationwide rose 4.7% last month to a 337,000 annual rate, though they still are down sharply compared with this time last year, and increased competition from cheaper existing homes could hamper their sales ability in the coming months. The median sales price for a new home was $200,900 last month, down from $251,000 in February 2008, but still high compared with the median sales price of an existing home last month of $165,400.

Falling prices and low mortgage rates are helping to stir buying activity, along with the government's $8,000 tax credit, part of the stimulus bill, for buyers who purchase a home before Dec. 1. The number of new homes for sale -- some 330,000 units -- is the lowest in almost seven years, a sign builders are beginning to work through bloated inventories after cutting back on new construction.

Separately, data Wednesday showed that orders for manufactured goods rose last month for the first time since July, another signal that the U.S. recession isn't deepening. The Commerce Department said orders for manufactured durable goods -- items such as autos, furniture and appliances designed to last three years or more -- rose a seasonally adjusted 3.4% last month to $165.6 billion, the first monthly gain since July.

Last month's rise in orders, however, only partially reverses January's revised 7.3% drop, which is sharply lower than first estimated, and orders are still down nearly a quarter from the previous year. A key gauge of business spending -- orders for capital goods excluding defense and aircraft -- also rose after posting a revised 11.3% plunge in January.

Meanwhile, inventory levels of durable goods declined last month, a sign that the jump in orders is helping to pare bloated inventories, paving the way for a future production increase. But households are likely to remain under pressure for some time: Economists still expect the unemployment rate, now 8.1%, to flirt with double digits later this year or next.

Things to Do in Phoenix Arizona
By Ryan Fyfe

Phoenix Arizona is the fifth most populated city in the United States with over four million people living in the area. This is the hottest city in America with temperatures reaching as high as 120 degrees Fahrenheit. It is located in the northeast of the Sonoran Desert. If you are visiting for a short or long period of time there will be plenty for you to do. Here is a list of just some of the possibilities in Phoenix Arizona.

The Desert Botanical garden will give you an idea about all the desert plants that can be found. Many people view deserts as places that are arid and without life, but these plants will allow you to have a better idea of the diverse vegetation to be found. This exhibit covers over 50 acres and is well worth a visit.

The Arizona Science Center is has over three hundred exhibits as well as a planetarium. This is a great day out for all the family that will be educational as well as fun. Many of the exhibits are interactive and new attractions are being added all the time.

Camelback Mountain is probably the most famous landmark associated with Phoenix Arizona and well worth a visit if you fancy a bit of a hike. This offers the highest peak in the Phoenix Mountains.

Piestewa Peak is another climb that will give you some great scenery to gaze upon. If you fancy a bit of exercise then this hike will get your heart pumping. You will be glad you made the effort when you reach the peak. This is actually one of the most popular hikes in the whole United States.

Rawhide Western Town is for all those people who would like to experience what the Wild West was all about. It will be easy to imagine yourself in the role of cowboy or cowgirl and you will get to see a recreation of life during this period of American history. If you keep your eyes open you might even get to see a gun fight or two. This is also the place for a great steak in Rawhide's much praised restaurant.

The Apache Trial is a drive that you will never forget. This is not only one of the most scenic drives in the United States, but it is also one of the most dangerous. The 45 miles of twist and turns will be worth it, but just make sure that you drive safely and people are encouraged not to make this journey when the temperature is too high.

South Mountain Park is another great place for hiking and cycling. There is over 50 miles of trails and you might even decide to try a bit of horse riding. Dobbin's lookout is the highest point in the park and you will get a great view of the rest of the park from here.

Phoenix Arizona is a wonderful location for a holiday, and you are sure to find plenty to keep you entertained for every minute of your visit.

Dealing with Real Estate Sellers in todays market

To contact us Click HERE

The decision to sell your home can come with a mixed bag of emotions. There is uncertainty and fear about how quickly your home will sell and for what dollar amount. There may be guilt about leaving behind family, friends, or neighbors. You may also feel anxiety about what is to come.

A less than stellar market has done little to ease these jitters. Many would-be sellers have even decided to forgo moves for fear that now isn't the time to sell.

Many others who have made the leap are ruled by emotions of sadness or regret. How does one let go of a home where so many memories were made?

The answer is in the attitude. It's not about letting go. It's about moving forward.

In order to let go of the negative feelings you have about the selling process there are a few crucial steps to take.

First, be resolute about your decision. If we allow ourselves to go back and forth between "I should" and "I shouldn't", you'll always have uncertainty. Decide once and for all what is best for your family. Many people make pro and con lists. Others simply go with what feels right.

Second, remember that memories aren't housed in the walls of your home, they live inside your mind. Those last a lifetime! Plus, take lots of pictures and video to document what life was like in your old home.

Third, talk about your decision. Bottling or resisting emotions can simply make them more pronounced. If you feel anxiety, talk to your spouse, friends, and realtor about it. It helps having a sounding board for fears and questions. Bounce ideas off of them.

Next, be willing to compromise. Today's sellers are finding tougher conditions. There are lots of homes on the market and that means more competition. Go into the selling process with the mindset that you may have to make certain concessions. Many sellers find they need to lower their price. They may need to pay the buyer's closing costs. They may also need to move out sooner or later than they anticipated.

Finally, refocus your attention on the fact that you're moving on to a new phase in life! Many of you will be experiencing moving-up to your dream home. No matter the reason you're selling, get excited about the changes or opportunities in your life.

Arizona Celebrates Centennial - 100 Years of Statehood

To contact us Click HERE
It was on this historic day in 1912 that President William Howard Taft signed the papers to admit Arizona Territory as the 48th State of the United States of America. Today, one hundred years later, people all over the state are celebrating a century of statehood.

The Arizona Centennial Foundation has been hard at work promoting this special date all throughout the state for the past several months. They were also a major sponsor of the Arizona Best Fest, which took place this past weekend and featured a variety of exhibits, music, food, and attractions in honor of the state's history.

Today, a full day of festivities took place at the State Capitol Museum in downtown Phoenix. There was a sunrise dance from the Arizona American Indians, a reenactment of Governor W.P. Hunt's walk to the Capitol, a speech from Arizona's current governor, and the unveiling of the new Centennial Stamp by the US Post Office.

Additionally, singer Wayne Newton performed downtown and a brunch was held for Arizona's Centenarians. There was also a variety of food and Centennial themed gifts and collectibles for sale at today's ceremony.

On the Internet, blogs and news sites are offering their lists of Arizona's icons. Here are a few good articles I came across:

Exploring the Union Mine in North Phoenix

To contact us Click HERE
Union Mine North PhoenixThere are many reasons why people choose to move to Arizona today. The mild winters, safety from most natural disasters, and a lower cost of living than California continue to draw people to Arizona from all over the country and the world.

As we look back on 100 years of statehood, it's important to remember the reasons why people came here in the first place. One of the most common reasons was simply: gold.

The search for the soft, yellow metal has lured countless numbers of people to search every corner of the state. The evidence of this gold-lust can still be found today in the form of mines, holes, shafts, and adits.

One such mine is located right here in North Phoenix! At 16th street just south of Deer Valley Road the remains of the Union Mine are hidden against the hillside.

The mine is a 75-foot deep vertical shaft that was worked in 1881. According to the website MinDat.org, the mineralization here was a 3.5 foot wide vein of gold! Today, the shaft is surrounded by a fence and numerous warning signs.

Walking around near the mine, I found numerous rusted bolts, old cans, and other artifacts in the area. This seems like an excellent place to go with a metal detector. Who knows what treasures might lie just beneath the top soil!

According to the Arizona State Mine Inspector's office, there are tens of thousands of mines in Maricopa County alone. Many of them have been filled in or fenced off in the interest of public safety. These mines are very dangerous and you should never enter any abandoned mine, even if it looks safe.

I write about them today because they are a reminder of Arizona's early days when treasure-seekers headed out to seek their fortunes, and a reason why people decided to settle here generations ago.

Aerial Photos of Arizona

Last month, my employer sent myself and some co-workers to Las Vegas to attend the Consumer Electronics Show, which is the largest trade show in North America. The flight from Phoenix to Las Vegas takes only 45 or 50 minutes, and my window seat afforded me some very unique photographic opportunities.
So without further ado, here are some aerial photos of Phoenix and Arizona that I took! Hope you enjoy them!

We took off from Sky Harbor facing east and then began to change course to Las Vegas. Out the window, you can clearly see the Loop 101 Pima Freeway as it passes through Scottsdale, AZ and the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
In this photo, the Phoenician Resort is clearly visible at the base of Camelback Mountain. Also visible is the Scottsdale Fashion Square shopping mall, and the Scottsdale Waterfront. The Arizona Canal can also be seen snaking its way through the city.
Here we can see just how massive South Mountain Park really is! You can also see Sky Harbor Airport and the Salt River - which doesn't have any water in it except for Tempe Town Lake. The Sierra Estrella Mountains are clearly visible in the background.
Here's a great aerial photo of Downtown Phoenix. Chase Field can be seen with the roof open, and the two large rectangular buildings with white roofs are the Phoenix Convention Center. In the foreground, we see the interchange between Interstate 10 and State Route 51.
Moments later, we were over the West Valley and I snapped this picture of Luke Air Force Base in Glendale. Luke AFB is home of the F-16 Fighting Falcons and soon to be home of the F-35 Lightning.
Flying over Surprise, Arizona, you can see an endless sea of tile-roofed subdivision houses packed together at the foot of the White Tank Mountains.
Moments later, I spied the steam from the cooling towers at Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station in Ehrenberg. This is the largest nuclear plant in the US and one of the few in the world that is not located near a major body of water.
This is an aerial view of the Bagdad Mine located in Bagdad, Arizona about 100 miles northwest of Phoenix. The giant open pit Copper mine can be seen in front of the nearly dry lake.
Turning around in my seat, I could see the distinct shape of Alamo Lake, home of Alamo Lake State Park.
I'm pretty sure this blurry photo is the town of Laughlin, Nevada on the banks of the mighty Colorado River.
A few miles upstream we see Lake Mohave, on the Arizona/Nevada border.
Here's a cool shot of Lake Mead, the Hoover Dam, and the new Bypass Bridge that opened to traffic in October 2010. Approaching Las Vegas, I could see the city's unique skyline against the backdrop of the Spring Mountains. Mount Charleston can be seen in the center of the range with the snow-capped top.
From the air, Las Vegas looks a lot like Phoenix!
Less than an hour after takeoff, we touched down safely at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas. That's it! Hope you liked the photos!

Taliesin West Kicks Off 2012 Lecture Series

To contact us Click HERE
Taliesin West Lecture Series 2012Each year, tens of thousands of visitors come to Taliesin West in Scottsdale, Arizona to learn about the life of Frank Lloyd Wright - arguably the most famous American architect in history. Many of these visitors are surprised to learn that Taliesin West was originally founded as a school, and is still an active campus today!

While enrollment numbers are extremely small, Taliesin West is an active educational institution for students pursuing careers in architecture and design. Every winter, the school hosts a series of lectures featuring professional architects.

The lectures are aimed at showing students what life is like working for a small design firm, as well as offering insight as to starting one's own firm. As an added bonus, these lectures are also open to the public!

For most people, a free lecture about architecture is about as fun as watching paint dry. But for those who are interested in the field, it is a fantastic opportunity to learn more. It's also a special experience to hear someone talk about a subject on which they are not only knowledgeable, but passionate as well.

The 2012 lecture series at Taliesin West is a short one: just four architects are scheduled for the season, compared with nine last year. If you have a chance, I highly recommend attending one of the two remaining presentations of the season.

Lectures begin promptly at 7:30PM. For more information, please visit www.taliesin.edu.
