Things to Do in Phoenix Arizona
By Ryan Fyfe
Phoenix Arizona is the fifth most populated city in the United States with over four million people living in the area. This is the hottest city in America with temperatures reaching as high as 120 degrees Fahrenheit. It is located in the northeast of the Sonoran Desert. If you are visiting for a short or long period of time there will be plenty for you to do. Here is a list of just some of the possibilities in Phoenix Arizona.
The Desert Botanical garden will give you an idea about all the desert plants that can be found. Many people view deserts as places that are arid and without life, but these plants will allow you to have a better idea of the diverse vegetation to be found. This exhibit covers over 50 acres and is well worth a visit.
The Arizona Science Center is has over three hundred exhibits as well as a planetarium. This is a great day out for all the family that will be educational as well as fun. Many of the exhibits are interactive and new attractions are being added all the time.
Camelback Mountain is probably the most famous landmark associated with Phoenix Arizona and well worth a visit if you fancy a bit of a hike. This offers the highest peak in the Phoenix Mountains.
Piestewa Peak is another climb that will give you some great scenery to gaze upon. If you fancy a bit of exercise then this hike will get your heart pumping. You will be glad you made the effort when you reach the peak. This is actually one of the most popular hikes in the whole United States.
Rawhide Western Town is for all those people who would like to experience what the Wild West was all about. It will be easy to imagine yourself in the role of cowboy or cowgirl and you will get to see a recreation of life during this period of American history. If you keep your eyes open you might even get to see a gun fight or two. This is also the place for a great steak in Rawhide's much praised restaurant.
The Apache Trial is a drive that you will never forget. This is not only one of the most scenic drives in the United States, but it is also one of the most dangerous. The 45 miles of twist and turns will be worth it, but just make sure that you drive safely and people are encouraged not to make this journey when the temperature is too high.
South Mountain Park is another great place for hiking and cycling. There is over 50 miles of trails and you might even decide to try a bit of horse riding. Dobbin's lookout is the highest point in the park and you will get a great view of the rest of the park from here.
Phoenix Arizona is a wonderful location for a holiday, and you are sure to find plenty to keep you entertained for every minute of your visit.
